RSM Classic Props Selection and Best of the Best

Presentation

The RSM Classic is the final tournament of the 2022-23 U.S. Tour season and the last chance for players to secure a spot in the 2024 tournament. The new FedExCup Fall will feature seven events with the top 50 players locked in. This gives players a chance to compete for the coveted “Bottom 10” (51st through 60th), who will earn spots in two designated tournaments next year.

The RSM Elite Tournament is held at the Island Golf Club on St. Simons Island, Georgia. The purse was $8.4 million with $1.512 million for the winner. The defending champion is Adam Swenson.

Props Recommended.

Ludwig Aberg over Davis Thompson (DraftKings -180): Aberg is looking to move into the top 50 in the world rankings by the end of the year to secure a spot in the Masters. He is currently ranked 53rd. Thompson has been playing well lately, but Aberg is favored in this match.
Commentary: Thompson has been playing well recently:

Aberg has been in great form this season and is ranked in the top 15 globally for the seventh time in a row. He’s also an excellent batsman, which is important on a challenging seaside course. Thompson has been playing well lately, but he’s not as consistent as Aberg.

RSM Classic Props Selection and Best of the Best

Akshay Bhatia (BetMGM +200) in the Top 20: Bhatia has had a great fall this year with three consecutive T21 or better finishes. He’s looking to build on his 45th place finish at last year’s RSM Elite.

Note: Bhatia is a talented young player:

Bhatia is a talented young player with the potential to win on the US Tour. He has been playing well lately and is a perfect fit for the Seaside course. The course is long and challenging, but also forgiving off the tee, which should suit Bhatia’s play.

Keith Mitchell over Thomas Detry (DraftKings -122): both Mitchell and Detry will need strong weeks to move into the bottom ten. Mitchell is an island resident and a regular at this event. Detry suffered an elimination in Bermuda, and he hasn’t finished in the top 30 in his last five global events.

Notes:

Mitchell is the favorite in this tournament as he plays well at home and knows the course very well. Detry is a good player, but he hasn’t been playing his best golf lately.

Best pick.

Ludwig Aberg (BetMGM +1400): Aberg is a great value bet to win the RSM Classic. He has played well all season and is a perfect fit for the Seaside course.

Russell Henley (+1600): Henley is another great value pick. He is a solid all-around player who has had success on the Sea Island course in the past.

Brian Harman (+2000): Harman is a local favorite who is always in contention to win the RSM Classic. He’s been runner-up twice, including last year.

Corey Connors (+2200): Connors is a former winner of the Valero Texas Open and is looking to get back on track. He’s been playing well in recent weeks and is a perfect fit for the seaside course.

Eric Cole (+3000): Cole is the leader in the Rookie of the Year race. He’s been playing well all season and is a great fit for the Seaside Course.

Notes.

Svensson will defend his first win on the U.S. Tour.
Curtis Thompson, brother of LPGA Tour star Lexi Thompson, locked up the final spot with a birdie on the fifth hole of Monday’s qualifying round.
Mark Hubbard will be making his 39th appearance in 54 tournaments this season, a single-season record since 1983, when data began to be recorded. He is one of six players to play in all six fall games to date. The others are Tyson Alexander, Akshay Bhatia, Nick Hardy, Justin Lowe and Kevin Yu.
Zach Johnson and Chris Kirk are the only players who have competed in the event every year since it was first held in 2010.
