Abada moves from Celtic to Charlotte FC MLS for £10M

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has described Liel Abada’s departure as “desperately sad” but the best for both sides after the Israeli moved to Major League Soccer team Charlotte FC.

Cheap Abada Football Jerseys He last played for Celtic in a 2-1 win over Hibernian on 7 February, after which Rodgers felt he was unable to focus on his peak form.

The 22-year-old has come under a lot of pressure in his homeland over Celtic fans’ support for the Palestinian people, with an international teammate even publicly advising him to leave.

The player signed a new four-year deal in September last year, just before suffering a thigh injury that ruled him out for more than four months.

Rodgers lamented the loss of the opportunity to work with the winger, who scored 29 goals in 112 appearances.

“Firstly, the whole situation is desperately sad,” said the Celtic boss. “A fantastic young player, he came here as a 19-year-old to another country and lit up the pitch with a lot of fantastic goals and had a really successful period.

“Whatever doubts he had in the summer, he was really happy to sign a new contract.

“And now, probably through no fault of his own or the club’s, he has had to leave to pursue his career elsewhere.

“I spoke to Liel on Monday evening, we had him at home because I knew he would be travelling the next morning.

“It’s desperately sad because I was really looking forward to working with him for a while and seeing if we could develop his game.

“But if you look back, he has created some great memories here in the Cheap Celtic football jerseys and I’m sure Glasgow will hold an important place in his heart and we wish him all the best in America.”

The situation escalated the day after the 7 October attacks in Israel, when Celtic fans’ banners reading ‘Free Palestine’ and ‘Victory for the Resistance’ caused anger in Israel, including former Hoops midfielder Nir Bitton.

Abada received a huge ovation when he returned to action against Rangers on 30 December, but he failed to regain his spark and disappeared down the tunnel at Easter Road while his colleagues celebrated their last victory after what turned out to be a quiet last appearance for Celtic.

“It was really difficult for him,” – Rodgers said. “He trained every day, he was committed to his job, he’s a top professional. But the situation, as it unfolded, was very difficult.

“And football is very much a mental game. If you’re not fully concentrated or if you can’t put something aside, something as big as that, then of course it’s very, very difficult to be at your best. Unfortunately, that’s what happened in his case.

“We talked most days, just checking he was OK, seeing him in training, but ultimately he wants to play football.

“And when it came to a situation where I felt there was no chance, we both looked at it and as a club we felt the best option would be for him to move.”

Asked whether pressure from Cheap Football Jerseys Israel weighed heavily on the player, Rodgers said: “It’s clearly a situation that was unplanned and wherever it came from, there were plenty of reasons not to be in that state of mind.

“But look, it’s over now. He’s moved on, he’s had a great two and a half years, he’s done very well and we need to move on.”
